Mission Volunteer: Steve Inman
How did you get involved in Family Missions?
Through a friend. She had been a couple of times and had this video which had people talking about Family Missions. So I thought about it, and decided to go.
What was your first experience of a Family Mission like?
It blew me away! The servant heart of the people on team and their ability to work together really amazed me.
What keeps you coming back?
I loved it! I loved the idea of a bunch of Christians leaving their churches to hang out in a caravan park for a fortnight. I could really see God working. The friendships I made and the bond of the group was amazing! This year, it's the desire to continue spending time with the teenagers and share God with them.
How have you seen God work through Family Missions?
In some unusual ways. Last year we decided to have a slip'n'slide. We had a pump to pump water out of the ocean into the slide. We dug, put the plastic down, and then tried the pump. It wasn't working. Some of our team got some buckets, garbage bins, and anything that could hold water. We then poured down water one bucket at a time for the kids to slide with. Some got water, others dragged the kids down using rope, others helped the kids out of the pool at the bottom. There were about 30 of us all doing our part and all with a smile on our faces. I really believe God was using the broken pump to show the parents of the kids how much He loves them by giving us the opportunity to be their child's servant. It was the highlight of Beach Mission for quite a few people.
