Leadership 4:12

What is Leadership 4:12?

Leadership 4:12 is a training program designed for developing student Christian leaders. The course is for sudents commencing Year 10 and is completed at the conclusion of Year 11. It is practical, thought provoking, challenging and fun. Student leaders from local schools meet together to grow in their faith, develop their leadership skills, learn from each other and form strong friendships.

Why is the course called Leadership 4:12?

The Bible forms the foundation of this program. It is our ultimate source for learning about God's plan for our salvation, and for how as Christians we are to conduct ourselves (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

In his New Testament letters to Timothy (a young Christian leader), Paul reminds Timothy that he has a responsibility to teach God's word, and to be an example of this inevery aspect of his life.

"Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

We seek to embed in student leaders' hearts the knowledge that, irrespective of their age, they are called to be examples of godliness. By doing this they are then in a position to lead and grow others as followers of Jesus.

Who is it for?

The Course is for students commencing Year 10 and is completed at the conclusion of Year 11.

When and where is it held?

The Leadership 4:12 program runs after school, generally from 4-6pm at a High School in your local area. Each term students undertake one of the seven strands required to complete the course. One strand takes six hours; two hours a week for three consecutive weeks.

Who runs the group?

Each local Leadership 4:12 group is facilitated by two leaders with experience in student ministry. These may be local Christian school teachers, local church leaders, or Scripture Union approved volunteers.

How much does it cost?

The cost is $120 per student for the two year program (excluding SU Mid Year Leadership Conference). Sponsorship is available if required. Click here if you'd like to be a Leadership 4:12 sponsor.

How to apply

Program participants are invited to join a local leadership group. Invitation is based upon students' personal spiritual maturity, and a demonstrated desire to lead others to live godly lives. The ISCF Group leader is primarily responsible for identifying potential students for the program, however if you would like information on applying or recommending a student for the program please contact SU.
